You've listened to one ipod, you haven't listened to them all ;p

You've seen one of Ghost's post, you've seen them all!
David, you were completely right about me being a marketing victim though. My Ipod wears a little green sock now which combines just fine with it's pink colour. You know what? I love it! Specially because the trendy looks of the Ipod come with it's superb sound quality.

As I said, I don't care about style and looks.
'Sleek/touch'? Sure, whatever. Sound mate.
Breaking? I don't throw it around..it's fine in my pocket; not even a scratch after a year.
It's stronger than the Zen's housing o_O what are you talking about. If I'm correct the Zen's housing is aluminium?
Anyway, what you say tells me everything tbh.
"From what I've been told and seen"
Don't you understand? You need to *listen*, not see, and not be told.
You're not going to buy a pair of headphones, an amplifier, or anything without listening to it first right?
i didnt say anything bout looks

. and i didnt say you throwing it around.. wtf is that about? :\ who cares if its aluminium, like you said, its sound n what it offers. and like i said, from what ive seen of the two (ive seen two ipods, both had to be repaired, seen one zen touch, been said its much better than ipod), the zen touch or the zen sleek is a lot better. fucking nora.
cant even express an opinion

Well, be more clear then

Find your enter and shift keys
And I don't care what people tell you

I want you to actually listen to the devices (not people who probably don't know what they're talking about -.-) before deciding which is best o_O
I've heard a Zen Touch, and it sounded absolutely shite

through the same headphones. Haven't even seen the Zen Sleek, but all the audiophile sources I've been looking at lately still tell me the ipod is best sound quality-wise

From what I've seen these ipods are unreliable toss.
Four mates at work, 1 is on his 2nd (although he's now saying it doesnt last as long as it used to on the battery) and the other 3 are on their 3rd, having to send it back to apple each time it fucks up.
Doesnt seem to be on a particular model either, two have an ipod mini and the other two the larger capacity ones.
Another mate has a samsung 15gigish one bought around the same time as the 1st lot of ipods, he's had no problems with it at all.

Well unless you're going to use alkaline batteries, lithium-ion is going to diminish in capacity over time no matter what device it's on (Zen, Rio, Apple, etc.)
There are a few tricks to keep it going for as long as possible though
More information on lithium-ion batteries:

Apple-specific faq:

As for having to send it back..wtf?
What happened to it? xD
I haven't had a single problem with it..maybe it's just me

my mini has been absolutely fine for about a year now.

I am fully aware of lithium Ion battery properties, it should last far longer than 2 months.
Then of course you've got the excellent idea of apple making them so you can't change the battery (well easily anyway)

I understand: for the crowd that just listens to (pop, rock or dance) music superficially, those that don't need lossless formats and audiophile headphones..it doesn't matter what player you get.
In that case, sure: I fully agree with you on wanting to buy a cheaper alternative.
In fact, as I stated before..I don't understand why people that seek no high-quality experience would still buy the ipod just for style, just because it's a trend.
I'm not trying to prove everyone wrong per sé.
I'm just saying that the ipod is more than a trend, and actually delivers quality for audiophiles, who would happily pay more for just a little extra quality.
Those that don't agree on people buying it just because of it's looks and apple's 'trendy' PR; I fully concur with!
However, it's wrong labelling all ipod-owners marketing victims, because in the end, aside from looks and marketing it
does deliver for those that need high-quality audio

It's up to you to decide whether that's worth it though, not me x_X

Being a musician myself, I often rather care about audio quality, so that was one of the important things for me when buying my MP3 player. I compared the Ipod with other leading companies (iriver, rio, creative) and the one that ended up having the best sound quality in my ears was the Creative Zen series.
Now, since I wanted something high capacity and couldn't really care about it's looks, I went with the 60 gig Zen Xtra. At a price of $290, the fact that I got the best sound quality (same songs/headphones) for a price way below the other companies, it was a win/win.

Well, I understand audio quality is subjective.
But I really didn't think so the Zen was better o_O
I'm interested to know why you thought so?
ps: And why do all the reviews say otherwise?

(not sarcasm btw, as I said before - and as Shev didn't understand - I respect all of your opinions and preferences ;p)
edit: well well, seems I'm a bit out of date on mp3-player reviews

I'm reading some nice things about the Zen Xtra
