why don't they just reduce the power of boosting a same team player and bring back dribble. Would let you get the ball up the field faster and the move would still be do-able, just not so far away.

soz i stopped reading at pg 2
i remember ppl saying that boosting is not too bad cos you can combat it. pbox camping and boosting have created a deadly stalemate and it has brought completely unoriginal play, and i fear a LOT of ppl leaving, as we are experiencing now. i dont personally wanna leave, cos i know how good db is. i love pub games a LOT more than clan matches now, cos ppl generally dont boost too much and ppl generally dont pbox camp either, at least here in australia.
edit: just read surges post above this. the great thing that we will see when/if boosting goes is teams who pass and move around well will always have the chances on goal. dribbling only encourages ppl to go solo :S if ppl move slower with the ball then they are forced to pass more.

hmmm, i guess...
maybe if the ball carrier doesnt run slower but at the same time cant sprint. my main problem with dribbling is it is just one more thing to separate n00bs and more experienced players, and once n00bs learn it im sure they will overuse it

dribbling was annoying.. if it stayed it would have lead to major pbox camping - which Im sure everyone who plays league games will agree - is taking the fun out of db.
boosting players into better positions has become part of db. I think its a fair tactic because both if both teams are doing it well (for offence and defense) then neither will have an unfair advantage. Most top teams are accomplished boosters - it makes the game more intense, because the whole team have to keep on their toes all the time, and more importantly play as a team (recieving and giving boosts).
boost goals on the other hand gives a massive unfair advantage to the team that does it. Any other tactic where a attacker is facing a defender and goalie between him and the goal - there is a fair chance of interception and saving. With boost goals, you need a defender a pbox camper and goalie to even stand a chance of hitting him enough times to kill him before he gets a chance to shoot.
Personally tho, I would prefer to see the bugs iron out before anything is changed. Most of us kinda take bugs as part of the game, but in competition - in close games, losing (or drawing) to bug goals is one of the most annoying things in db.

I've never really liked sprint as it takes a whole dimension away from the game. Boosting adds a great arial aspect to the game, it's just a shame it's being abused by "boost goals".
With a bit of clever code, boost goals can be eradicated without sacrificing boosting.

I disagree entirely. Sprint does the exact opposite. The reason people are using boost goals is because it's so difficult to get space, meaning traditional passing goals are incredibly difficult to score. Why is it difficult to get space? Because everyone moves at the same speed and there's no momentum in the game. With sprint, both of those things are removed. If a defender's too far away to boost, you can sprint to him and boost him out of your way. Or run through the defence. Or get just far away enough to receive a pass and put in a cross. Or change direction very quickly and get plenty of space.

And sprint is retarded, it takes away any skill in offense involving boosting a defender away to get open. Even if I pull a sweet fake out and boost the defender extremely far away, he can just sprint back to me *yay*. It also takes away much from passing because people don't want to jump to save their stamina for sprinting.

People are just using boost goals because they can, it's as simple as that. Everyone can be spread out in their own little acre of space, and teams will STILL be desperate to do it. Take your mind back to a recent draw we had for proof.
Sprint all you want. If a team is pbox camping, it still won't solve the problem.
Solution:
Remove boost goals.
Think of a fair way to combat pbox camping, either by coding restrictions of coming up with a counter balence. Not because it's "unfair" as such, because it's boring and counter-productive.

how about if the player has the ball then they cannot go above a set speed. so if they are flying through the air and they recieve the ball they slow down to the normal running speed. i think that would solve the problem
