basicly there is an area in the middle that is lower gravitys. there are boost pads which should only have enough power that with all 3 jumps to reach a littler farther then its destination as show with the lines. might be fun. I dunno how to do jump pads or anything. so if anyone wants to map it go for it. i got other stuff on the burner right now. but thought i'd post the idea whiles its in my head.
Yeah I was thinking of maybe instead of falling to death there just be a lower level tho i'm not sure if i'd want people to be able to run around under the higher ones.
Perhaps what you could do there, is to have a laser grid that the ball doesn't fall through, but the players do. So there is still the solid ground for the players but the ball doesn't reset a ridiculous number of times.
inphidel, that would be worse, falling down all the time would get damn annoying
i dont really see much potential in this layout, but feel free to try it, i just think the flow would suck
hmmm that could work too. just hafta taste so its still possible to retreive the ball if it comes to rest on the grid. but with a bit of low gravity i doubt the ball will ever stop moving good call guys.
::shrugs:: - i'm bound to make it. hopefully it'll atleast get a test drive, it'll be a learning experiance at the least for jump pads for me - the other low grav idea i posted with the small hole sin the wall for goals idea is 60% complete. i'll post some screens later. i'm not sure how it'll work out but its pretty cool feeling.
How about an arena that is an ellipse with goals like in DB-Hole placed at the...shoot, forget name now, the two points where any lines drawn from point to curve to point is always same length - anyway, the ball shot from one goal to the other in any direction will (if shot hard enough) go into the goal...
Could make for some hectic gameplay with long-shots enabled
The Y shape sounds interesting... it is a harder jounrey from your penatlty zone to the enemy goal if u want to go and get the ball from it's reset spot. I think a Map with normal goals (not like in DB-Hole) would be interesting, And it's worth a try.
Well, not so much a Y-shape as a squashed circle. Time to break out the mad Paint skills...
Anyway, the length from one of those dots to anywhere on the edge to the other dot (d1 + d2) is constant. Also, if you throw the ball from one point to the wall, no matter where you throw it, it will go toward the other goal (unless you bannana)
It should be pretty simple to make a test map - just have to find my math book that told me how to find the foci.
