Nope.
Point 1: When the ball was played by Margairaz, Frei was onside.
Point 2: The pass was to Cabanas not Frei.
Which leads to...
Point 3: You cannot be offside unless you are in active play. This is the stupid one and arguable either way. Blame FIFA for that. I'd say at the time of the pass it wasn't an advantage to be where he was, your opinion may differ.
Point 4: You cannot be offside if the pass was from an opposing player. The 'pass' was from a South Korean player (Didn't note the name, sorry) who accidentally put Frei in on goal while attempting to block the pass to Cabanas.
Seems quite clear to me. Plus even if the goal was not awarded Switzerland were still 1-0 up. Even if South Korea had scored they'd still be out.

well, still havent watched it, but if he was onside when the last swiss player touched the ball, it cant be an offside for sure.
its certainly ironic to see the koreans mad at a ref's decision.
yet another priceless little thing.

It's quite hard to catch as Frei and the defender are moving in opposite directions, plus the referee's assistant's (stupid name. what was wrong with linesman?) view is blocked by the other players. I have no doubt that he didn't actually flag for Margairaz's pass but for when the Korean defender put Frei through. I don't know what the big deal over this particular decision is. It was a very close call and could be given either way in any match.
no there's no big deal about it .. it just that in the replay it seemed to me it was an offside, and i personally think that with 20 minutes left Korea would have been capable of completely changing the score, but if it's not an offside as u explained then ok..
anyway i'm happy with Switzerland qualifying to the next round
i like how the play , still it will be a difficult game for them against Ukraine..
