These books contain knowledge most people seemingly use for doing evil. And TinMan suspects Herby to be one of these people, I assume.
He said, he doesn't hate Herby, but he also said, he doesn't trust my opinion about him because somebody, probably Herby, could have manipulated my mind!
And I ... *look up into Tilly's eyes* and I don't trust myself anymore because of this!
