but so many cards for so few fouls is there to show that the players were not interested in making a particularly crazy violent match. the players were of course, under great stress, and the refs incompetence to control the game from the very beginning was the cause for the disaster, tbh.
of course, its always legit to blame the players. after all they are the ones that made it difficult for the ref.

Yes, Italy dived. So did Australia. They just didn't get a penalty because of it. Lucas Neil had a good game but he shouldn't have gone to ground so easily. I wanted Australia to win but hey, I'm sure they'll be stronger in four years.
As for Switzerland v Ukraine, shame there couldn't be two losers.
