Google only allows one click per ip. so if you do it 250 times, it only counts once. Thanks for the try...but they wouldn't allow such illegal stuff. Same for banners where I say "click em to support notpron", they would kick my ass :)

I would not force riddles to be google levels. Gameplay > all. Can't make levels dependent on such aspects...
And having a google bar in the -40 region (or be it -32) gets me nothing, so few people. With 500 people playing a level a day, it's good, but we only have 30 or so there.

At the moment Notpron is in a hole hit wise. It's always going up and down, but right now it's pretty down...waiting for it to appear on some big page again, so it spreads through some more forums again.
You can be helpful finding big news pages that could post about it. Whenever a big page has it on the frontpage (no matter how small the link is) we get countless hits more.

Thanks Springer for the donation ;)

Well I just submitted it to collegehumor.com, it was on there before, that's how I found it, hopefully it will be placed again and possibly generate some new hits, and once paypal stops screwing with me i'll send a donation.

When you send them something, tell them that everything has been changed, improved and a lot more has been added, ok? (ALL OF YOU WHEN YOU DO IT)
To give them a reason to post it again.

You can also try bluesnews.com and flabber.nl
I remember they both gave us lots of hits, but give em reasons to put it up again :)

Knowing just a little of marketing business it basically an equation of supply and demand, when demand would be the amazing popularity notpron got, therefore I think you should give it a try first. don't underestimate adding profitability as it might surprise you.
I wouldn't mind having a banner or a middle screen on each level, but I think pop-up is a very bad idea since most browsers today blocks it.

As for a minus levels account, I would think again since some of us are using more then one computer and different IPs from time to time, and it may cause some problems. although it's a sure income at first, that's where it ends - at the... lets say... 50 of us who will pay for it a fee of... just throwing a number... 5$ to 20$ (as been suggested here) it would get in the best scenario to a 1000$ but that would be it, when adding would fly by it in no-time. in the world we live in today there are commercials practically everywhere, if it'll help keeping notpron and all that comes along with it alive then why not here?

About the google bar, if I'm not mistaking it, it's 3 cent-a-click, and if David really wants he can build up a page the automatically refreshes as fast as the computer can stand.

As I said earlier, I'm willing to go with the flow here and accept every decision whatever it'll be, but I think you should give a thought for those who want to help but can't finance it. I'm sorry, but if we are a community as been mentioned here more than once, we should take care of everyone, and not only for ourselves.

P.S. Wow David, I think that at the end we'll make you a very rich man!

Ah, I understand about the Google and the banners now.
I've emailed bluesnews (with lots of reasons to put it up again) and will look for some more this afternoon and translate the flabber page so I can find the contact link!
If anyone finds any to send to please let me know and I'll contact them too, the more of us that do then perhaps the more notice they will take.

Really think about what you pay for a bottle of beer, and compare the time it entertains you.

It's not about the amount (for me at least). I just don't want to feel like a customer.

I agree with elvisyo on everything he said.If you consider the people Notpron gets every day and the addiction people have on it i think it worths a try.I personally don't afford in the meantime to pay for playing but who cares screw me.For the sake of notpron sponshorship and ads will be a brilliant idea. But it doesn't mean that because people who can't pay won't support David's work and everything. We can advertise for notpron in our own way (tell it to friends, many of us have websites on the internet so we can put links to notpron etc...).Also a good idea if we can find big pages that we can put links inside.

My 2 cents in the discussion.

If the e-book really generates money, plug it a bit more. I've always thought to order it once I'd finished the positives (so soon...) I don't know yet, but is there a BIG reminder on the end of the positives about it?

As for paying for the negatives. I'd do that if the amount of money is not too exaggerated. Something like euro 1 per lvl with a max of lets say 50, maybe in two installments. But as been said before, I don't think it will generate a continuous stream of income. Not because it's an idiot filter, but just that there are many more free things on the internet to switch to. Including challenging riddles. So if that's the addiction, it's easy to switch "dealers" and continue riddling.

I can imagine the google bar doesn't make as much money as it could. For one it is just easier to search for things in your own language. I consider myself quite advanced in English, but still it is easier to "scan" through a lot of information in my native tongue. And there are many on this riddle that are obviously hindered by having to use english.

Advertisement might just do the trick. And I'm thinking in the line of every 5th or 10th level a sublevel that's easy to answer, but only if you've read the advertisement. It forces you to click the ad and with a message attached that it is important to generate some money for the continuation of the riddle, i don't think it'll bother people. Advantage is that you can start doing this as early as between lvl 5-6 and you benefit from all the people that start the riddle, but leave it early.

Ah, true, forgot about that. Then it leaves me with an ad on every (?) level in a top frame. It ruines your styling though...

No, forcing banner clicks is out of the question but would ads work in the forums? I'm not very well up on how advertising works.
In the meantime, I've started at the top, I've emailed Channel 4 in case they have any forthcoming TV programmes about computer games as they sometimes do and will carry on to email other TV companies as well as any big page sites I can find.

I'll plusg it as much as I can. See about getting the whole of the Comp Sci building playing it?

Edit: You got any posters?? I can defiantely put posters up!

Or some linking images, will stick on my site etc. I get enough hits that it may help.

That's a good idea, angelsk. :p
I was just going to say if students could put up a poster in their colleges, universities and schools...., maybe even make some with David's permission, of course?
Linking images is a good idea too, my sister has a site, she would do that if I asked her I'm sure and there must be lots of other people with sites.
DavidM, I'm emailing you a couple of ideas too. :)

I just sent a link to FHM.com for their games section with all the quotes on the start page. Also sent it to entensity.net where I found it with reasons to repost it.

*edit* just submitted http://deathball.net/notpron/ to about 20 - 30 different sites that I browse reguraly.
