How to kill Pbox Camping in 1.7

Started in 1.3 myself. Anyhow I certainly wouldn't want to face a 1st league clan without the powerup sound these days. The people in the first dbl group has been playing this game for a long time, and are easily WAY more talented than they were before the powerup sound was added. And as someone already pointed out I reckon it's more fun to see tight match with not so many goals than to have a final score of 30-25... At least IMHO
sorry for just skimming the post, but one idea to stop attacking campers would be the ability to tell the game to disable long passes? so you can only lock on say half the pitch lengh or 1/3rd?
ok they can still shoot the ball but thats not hard to stop "half" the time.
i proberly missed the idea of the post but at least i said it. ehe

holy thread going off topic batman...
again, taking away the kill from defenders in the pbox will give the offense too much of an advantage, taking away the chargeup sound will balance the two so that the d has to actually be good again, instead of having a mediocere at best defense being able to stop a very good regular shooting oriented offense, and again, this makes offenses look to vollies and boost goals much more than they should

you guys only think one way.....this might fix one problem, but it creates 10 new!
Could you please explain what these 10 new things are? And for the people that think that defense will be hard without the charge sound are a bunch of n00bs imo. Back before the sound charge was ever in, I could never get past Tesal, (now a rush d player) and this was because he actually knew how to play d and how to read the passes and plays. Not just wait for the offense to come to him.
I remember a version maybe 4 months ago that had the option of not hearing the players charge up and from that version I remember scores even lower then the ones I see today. Because people played smarter...all anyone does these days is take advantage of the increased volley radius and just pass balls IN the pbox for ez vollies that a goalie has no way of stopping. It made playing defense more challenging, playing offense mean more then playing in a volley only game (ever wonder why thats all anyone plays these days). Its funny that everyone acts as if this is some hypothetical idea that has never happened before...in fact this was so when the first league was going and I must admit that those games were the most fun I have played in DB and its sad that the games we play nowadayz are all based on who can volley better and have nothing to do with shooting or even playing d just keep ur boyz in the box and watch as the enemy is forced to volley cause ur sure as hell not going to get a shot passed them.
The best version of this game was 1.4b and its a shame that u want this game to be some retarded volley only match where no one can attempt to pick up the game, and can only play by being a volley whore.
I know u won't just revert the game to 1.4b, but u should, it makes no sense how u wanna power up volleying so peeps can just sprint and volley for even faster vollies, I assume u want shooting removed from the game if thats what u want just do it.

You gotta play without the charge up sound to realize the huge difference it makes. It completely changes the way defense is played, and the no sound way requires more skill but in the end makes a tougher defense. A defensive team that reads a play rather than listens to a sound is much more deadly.

yeah it has nothing to do with advantage and everything to do with fun game play.... pbox camping playing against it and using it is just plain not fun. i as want to know these problems that are going to be caused by taking the sound out... only make d harder but right now as many ppl have pointed out it is too easy... scores will probably go up but at least the games will be more fun

In 1.3 and 1.4 there were chargeup sounds, just lower. The D could hear it. I heard it, Tesal heard it, I'm sure many others did. Why do you think we could strip the ball from you and make it look so easy? The difference that made it a lot easier for the D back then (1.3) is that volleying wasn't constant. You knew that someone would try to shoot, they wouldn't jump up into the pbox and do some volley move. Nowadays I can deflect someone's wall volley only to have another enemy jump out and volley it in. This never happened back then. In addition to having NORMAL volley radius+power, the O was pretty dumb back then.
I'm not arguing about keeping or removing the sound, I don't care much, I'm just pointing that some of your guys' ideas+memories are misguided.
On PBOX camping: Modern, Complete PBOX camping is a direct result of having too many people on D or O. It is a DIRECT result of over boosting. When you have 3 people on offense AND defense all the time, things get sloppy. The defending team gets squashed into the PBOX. People can't man2man. The result you get is a pbox camper and 2 chaser Ds. The higher volume charge isn't the heart of this problem. People were pbox camping before 1.3 i.e. night.
Try shooting at the pbox 1v1 against a D. This is what 2O 2D is like. Then try non-open shooting when it's 3or4 D vs. 3 O. You should at least be able to make a good shot 1v1, if you don't you sux :p 3D vs 3O you normally can't, because they will always have 1 zoner, so if you manage to get off your man, the zoner will hit you. It's not the D's fault because this isn't a bad defense, it's not the sound's fault(as it was always there), it's the fault of clutter.

These are the defenders i remember the most from 1.3b and 1.4b. When DB was actually harder for defenders and actually required them to stay on a man or lose.
Super is probably one of the best DB players there was in 1.3b and even hes talling you the problem. It is boosting and i agree completely. Before boosting became big in 1.4b you might see it done occasionally, but nopw boosting is the core of all teams and using it may make a bad team look really good if they can boost well.

In the old versions the defense did not always hear the charge up sound because of distance or sound clutter (hammers are loud). With the low charge sounds it was MUCH harder to hear, and you had to be within a certain radius to hear it. Also, the keeper could not hear any shot at the pbox line or out no matter what. The point is only one could hear it, the defense or the keeper, so removing it for all but the keeper will bring that back.
Boosting is such a huge part of the game that removing it would kill it. The pace would be so slow compared to today's game that I doubt many people would survive the transition. Removing the charge up sound will make 3 D/3 O plays a bit less cluttered hopefully, and man to man D more likely. Without the pre-emption on shots with the charge sound, pbox camping is more crippling than it is helpful, which removes much of the clutter. And man vs man D is very possible, I know my team does it to individuals to remove them from a play every so often.
