You're right, I do remember. It felt....well, it just burned and then went numb until you healed it. I don't know what the difference in feeling between a heat burn and a chemical burn would be, and that's an experiment I'm not keen to do!

I can do a chicken salad if you like, with anchovies and boiled eggs.

Well yes. I would have found it if it was near the house to begin with. But something might have happened to it after it came out of the house.

Maybe that's the reason why Nicky falls asleep so often and so suddenly: This "dirty gold" contains something incompatible!

Possibly but its the best Ive got until we can find some of my gold that has been unmodified by whatever did something to this.

Well, almost certainly iron. I know iron repels magic of most sorts, but that wouldn't explain why it would burn me.

Unless it was heated by my latent electrical charge and burned me. That would be a fairly innocuous explanation, but I still don't understand why it's so hard.
