Well, it is simple. Never talk about the time between the first time you me and Kex sat in the kitchen and the fire, as well as the time after the fire until now. We are going to erase those parts from Kex' memory, and it wouldn't be good if she tried to remember that because someone mentioned anything of those events.

She will think, she went from the kitchen to bed, awoke, fell unconscious in the fire and awoke now, after lying quite a long while in unconsciousness.

That's ok. You will just fall asleep, and awake later as if nothing happened.
Maybe you'll feel a bit dizzy for the first moments, but that won't last too long.
