last time (ut2003) the mac demo didn't come out till well after the PC full game was out...

it doesnt involve kernel or recompile.. atm >_<
Just that i did have a geforce 420mx or something equally as bad.. ive now stuck in an fx5700ultra i went into linux and did glx gears, and the computer went into ultra slow mo and i couldnt do anything i had to use the power button to reset.

I would say reinstall the nVidia kernel module.
If you don't have the latest ones, you might not have 5700 support

Those ones certainly do. Even if you are running with those, I would recommend installing the drivers again. I'm surprised it even worked straight off, when switched from gf4 to gf3 (it went bang) I had to completely reconfigure X.
