cases :)

Can't be arsed to re-find the other case thread and bump it up. No doubt it was filled with the same quality posts we come to expect from the OffTopic forum these days. ;)

Aaaanyway, post your pictures, let us know the stats, and generally pimp your rig.

Box1:
"Blade" - The Gaming Rig (dual boot Windows XP / FedoraCore 1)
-AthlonXP (Barton core) 2800+ oc'ed to 2420Mhz, Vantec Aero cooler, running at 40°C.
-DFI UV-Reactive LanParty nforceII Ultra mobo.
-1 GB Crucial DDR333 RAM
-Crucial (Ati) Radeon 9800Pro 128MB

The case window is a premodded one. UV reactive everything, and a shiny Coolermaster Musketeer at the front to finish things off. Enough fans to cause major hearing problems. Next build will be watercooled hopefully.

Dear god I need some cable ties...

Box2:
"Balzac" - the server (Red Hat 9, soon to be FreeBSD)
-AthlonXP 2400+ (Thoroughbred core) @ stock speed. Coolermaster Aero7 Lite hsf (mmm quiet).
-ASUS A7V266 board
-1GB Crucial DDR266 ram
-GeForce3ti200
-200GB 8MB Cache Western Digital Caviar
-60GB Maxtor DiamondMax
Custom casemod, which didn't come out as well as it could have, coupla uv lights, and some orange-reactive cabling.

Hmm, need more cold cathodes :D

Box3:
"Dagger" - laptop (Fedora Core 1)
-some stats that aren't great because it's a work machine. Although I can *just* run db on there. :D
So this is my general setup:

and here's what it looks like at night.

Check the manual pages for the driver you are using. eg the nvidia proprietry driver has a

Code: Select all

"IgnoreDisplayDevices"
option. So set that to ignore tv-out and crt, and give it another try.

I can't help it, I'm just enthralled by the pretty lights...

In some ways, I'm like a moth.
In many, many more accurate and true ways, I'm not...

Oh, and macs are fucking gorgeous. I crave the day when I can afford a G5.

if it's a box with some neat features inside (e.g. simple change of drives, etc): sure, why not? -_-

i'm the same way, but that's because of my a.d.d.

My mind will automatically focus on bright/colored lights, blinking lights, or shiny things

i love it

Got this Dell laptop right now that pisses me off so I will speak no more of it, but I am going to build a new pc this summer (first time builder)

Here are the parts I'm probably going to get, still need to figure out a monitor.

For the lazy, here's the gist of those parts:
Athlon 64 3200+
MSI K8T800 mobo
1 GB Corsair DDR400 RAM
Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro 128 MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Creative Labs 6.1 Speaker system (may go 5.1, who knows)
Maxtor 120 GB IDE (tho I guess SATA is better?)

plus, case, mouse, keyboard, cd drives blah blah blah
