How to report bugs effectively

Here are some tips how you should report bugs. First some general tips. If you are lazy, please read atleast the two last chapters.

Deathball specific:

- It's highly recommend to give us log files, especially when Deathball crashes. Important ones are UT2004\System\ut2004.log and if you are running a server UT2004\System\server.log. Also remember to always write the _full_ crash message if there's one.

- We might be interested in your DeathballUser.ini and Deathball.ini too, because they descripe your Deathball settings.

- If you don't tell us which version of Deathball you used, we always assume that it's the latest version of Deathball 2004. Thus, if you tried some other version, please tell which one.

- Send your bug reports via e-mail:

to: makush@suomi24.fi;jeroen@mysticgd.com;davidm@planetunreal.com;usaar33@usaar33.com

That way your report will be atleast read unlike if you write to an IRC channel.



Currently known problems, which need no reporting:

- Sometimes UT2K4 claims that you have an invalid CD-key. Solution: try deleting UT2004\Deathball\System\Deathball.ini and UT2004\Deathball\System\DeathballUser.ini. If you still get the error, backup your ut2004\system\ut2004.ini and ut2004\system\user.ini and delete them from the system folder. Contact us only if the problem still persists.

and i STILL cant see any servers, when i goto Internet.
and click Deathball v1.9b

Please send the reports via email as instructed.

It seems like you have some ut2004 files missing. I suggest reinstalling UT2004 and trying again.

EDIT: Another possibility: you are using Deathball v1.9b files. Take the full beta v2.0 and make sure it overwrites v1.9b files.

how could i be missing some ut2004 files if i can play it online fine?
and can you provide me with a link to the missing files if i really am missing some .

Hard to say. I suggest trying the other thing (make sure you don't have v1.9b files in use) first....

and i did allready reinstall ut2k4.
and i sented you an email.

dude you are missing some major file there! what else did you delete?
well reinstall 2k4 and dont delete anything, just install 2.0 full beta and update#2 on top of it

Only problem i have is the mapvote and when i use remote admin to change a map it crashes the server
