Some UT2K4 DB 2.0 thoughts

Have played a few hours with the 2.0 beta. It's coming along very nicely indeed. Just a few random thoughts:
- The primary fire delay of 0.3(?) seconds needs tweaking. It's not uncommon, even in 1.9, to see a person catch the ball and then throw out straight away because they tried to volley it. To me this happens even more in 2.0 because the UT2K4 netcode is better and people are getting pings as good as 15. Maybe make the delay 0.6 seconds?
- I'd like a selection of crosshairs to use with my middle radar. Not really an important issue mind!
- Slight bug: When you access the menu by pressing Esc, one option is Exit UT2K
3!
- And just to prove to DavidM we don't all default moan about new stuff, I like the new Smallcube! :p

I played lots of 2k4 without crosshair, untill I saw this thread i didn't even notice it
EDIT: I have always hated the vincinity radar, distracts me.

mine used to be a cross scaled to the exact boostable distance of people, was useful

Yup..same as froste, cept it was a moving radar thingy
Really not helpful at all for volley distance etc, since you never actually watch it ^^;
But if you're gonna make a crosshair

make sure it's functional for deathball (volley/boosting range whatever, not just some nice looking thing)
...OR you could make a semi-transparant moving Susi head

everyone will love that!

froste or anyone, sounds like an excellent idea to have that as default cross. gimme?

for 2k3 i always used the small dot crosshair :3
i dont mind the cross atm but why not make it optional, why keep it to one type?
*edit* Just read the ast few posts again, a boost area sized one would be great.

I was wondering about making the crosshair a set transparency like the middle radar thing, so i quickly put up frostie's method as a crosshair, basicly we got a ring for enemy hitting distance and a ring for the team, the team hit is still slightly bigger then the enemy radius right?
also as an idea the two little grey dots above the crosshair were supose to be "30degrees" markers, so you can roughtly see your lock aimcone. say you set it to 50degrees, the pins would move a bit more around the crosshair ring. just an idea =)

dave: i had tweaked the original cross(2) 2k3 crosshair to about 120% size, that seemed to be fine for me. i think i had to change the size via the ini, cant fully remember
i like diabs main idea tho (not sure on the aimcone dots), but in a range of colours, i had the highly garish pink one since it isnt obscured by any colour in any level, ie black on black or white on grey.

i will just do it very exact and add a small circle to the middle radar graphic.
but I cannot add the pass lock dots because it would be wrong when people change the cone °
