DB Demo! (For anyone who cares to watch)

Last night a bunch of us recorded a DB 2.0 demo for anyone who wanted to take a look at how a fairly high level game of DB is played. You can find it in the downloads section at db-community.com, right here in fact. To run it just unzip it to your UT2004/Demos directory (just create one if there isn't one there already). Then type "demoplay dbc_demo1" in the console from inside Deathball.

It's a serverside demo so you should be able to get views from all the players (click around for a bit until you find one your like). There's a slight bug in that the fireworks won't turn off after the first goal's been scored, unfortunately, but if you can ignore them then it's a good game. Enjoy :)

Messy, The VO community isn't even really playing VO at the moment. We still play small maps once and a while. But, played as REG. Vets primarily still volley, shootings too easy, but we get the new player involved as much as possible. They can see the importance of learning to pass - volley shoot by watching us. However, we play more for them now, letting them shoot, feeding them the ball, and once in a while showing them what they can learn to do. For the most part, we play large maps right now.

A large part of VO community is bent on growing the community in general. VO isn't for new players. We care about deathball in general. A growing community benifits all of deathball. VO, REG, and the league. The VO community are REG players right now.

There's a VO community now? :P

Anyway, all I meant to say is that I hope the new players will get attracted to the tactical teamplay we know from 5on5 (and I *personally* like better, each to their own opinions!), bring more joy to ME and not YOU! HAHA! AHAAHAAABANANAS

edit: regardless of the whole VO-Reg community, you may like whatever, but I don't see what's so charming about VO ¬_¬
As the great Imaginos once said: "Deathball is to VO as ballet is to an epileptic fit."

noobs don't play VO, lets leave it at that :P both people who prefere VO and REG want the community to love the game.

The more we bring up the word VO, the more the new kids will wonder what it is ;P so lets just talk deathball :P and everyone will be happy hehe

good work cata!

Twigstir says: Deathball is to VO as making slow gentle love is to waking the neighbors with the sounds of pleasure moans and a slamming headboard.

LOL! Messy, I forgot all about that thread. I do tend to rant a little sometimes. ;)

Twig's analogy is strangly enticing though.. in that sometimes you're just in the mood to open the drawer and take those handcuffs out.. but I digress..

I'm extremely thrilled with the way things have gone in the BuD pub sofar. People are playing a variety of maps, maybe a little too much bigfootball, but that's ok.. Rookies are seeing all the important aspects of the game - and this is the big part that VO doesn't give people. Passing, defending, shooting, volleying...
I don't want to encourage reckless hammering of the ball, since imho, the game is about control. Yes, preaching to the choir, but watch soccer.. there's no random kicking there. Ball control/possession is one of the big things rookies need to assign value to. Esp when you're looking at larger maps and you have the advantage in enemy territory..

Again though, I'm really happy with the way things are now. Reminds me of when DB originally came out. Bunch of specs queued up waiting to get into the full servers.. Plenty of maps in the rotation.. Always a game going on. Good times. I hope it continues.
