i love deathball and i can see why you wanted generic models for online play..however..i dont play the game online much due to 56k connect ..but i do love playing against the bots and the new AI..and to be truthful, i really dont like the looks of the supplied models..how can i get deathball to use my own custom bots and epics generic ones like it used to?

ty :p

Well for one, old models won't be included anymore :)

If you want to customize the looks of your bots though, I think there'll surely be the possibility to do this (along with characteristics, obviously) when the RPG singeplayer will be included.

This would probably mean there'd be different personalities for bots, and seeing as the customizations are already in, and there's going to be stats for your singeplayer bot team, these would most likely be able to be applied to bots in quick action/bot match seperatly when that has been implemented.

But err...then again, don't go around waiting for that ;p that might take some time -.- (I can imagine it's quite low on the priority list)

i guess i dont understand then..i USED to be able to use models and skins from UT2004...back maybe 1 or two betas ago..then you guys put in your own skins (i imagine so you could identify teams online easier) so something was changed..all im asking for is an option to change it back..

was the code changed so much it couldnt take the .upls from the ut2004/system dir like it used to?

Models are more important than the gameplay to you? Wow.

The only thing more unfortunate is that it was the bots you were looking forward to.

OK..i relogged in to answer this..

let me ask you this Imaginos..how does what models i chose to use in botmatch effect gameplay in ANY way?

i imagine that the model in online play can be easily be regulated

it seems to me to be a capricious decision here..as in the old joke;

Windows 95..where you WILL go today...

The bot AI has been improved tremendously and, I would be willing to bet, shall continue to be developed.

From your original post, I feel you are throwing in the towel based on your opposition to the need for the mod to no longer use Epic's models. MY point was the models/skins are nowhere near as important as the gameplay. I, for one, would continue to play this mod even if it featured models from the Atari 2600 era's Pitfall game.

Also, while I don't find botmatch to be particularly enjoyable, I understand that some people have no alternative. I used to be a Starband subscriber for two years that coincided with the heyday of the original Unreal Tournament. Because of the limitations of satellite internet, I was completely unable to participate in any online play.
Now that I have moved to a cable-internet serviced area, I can tell you that the live multiplayer experience is far superior to gaming against bots. But again, if you're in the position I was in, all I can say is I'm sorry if that's all you had to look forward to in the mod, becuse you're missing out on the best part of it. Live internet play.
