I just did a format on my drive and after downloading a new version of Zonealarm (ZoneLabs Security Suite 5.0 to be exact), I've encountered an annoying problem with mIRC =\

In the enclosed image the problem is between the red lines, Zonealarm blocking me from connecting to any irc network.

The stuff under that is after closing Zonealarm and connecting, which, as you can see, works perfectly, and it doesn't give any problems whatsoever if I start Zonealarm again after that =\

Have any of you encountered this problem yourselves or have you got any idea on how to fix it? I've enabled mIRC in Zonealarm's program control and everything worked when I just used Zonealarm Pro (was a version from just a few months ago I think).

Hope you guys can help :)

edit: I'm also open to suggestions for other firewalls ¬_¬ any other firewalls that are better? :)

Btw, Robo and Jr: thx for the help ;p but hasn't helped much ^^; as I said, I have already allowed mIRC to access the internet and act like a server, and the port is open on my hardware router (though that's not the problem in the first place, since this problem is only there when zonealarm is on)

I run Zonealarm (freeware version), and while I've never had this problem, one solution might be to add irc.quakenet.org into your "trusted ip addresses" zone.

I hold no responsibility if quakenet then infect you with anything ¬_¬

gg :x found it when looking in advanced options under IMSecurity (most annoying feature ever, messaging your contacts that you will not be encrypting the IM...err..so?)

Even though IRC seems totally irrelevant to this function, since IRC wouldn't be classified Instant Messaging, and it doesn't even protect or encrypt IRC (the only function that should have anything to do with IRC should be program control on your client).

Oh well ¬_¬ download..err..going to buy Norton Internet Security now anyway.
