So it occured to me that db should store some basic stats about players. eg
Shots
Volleys
Goals
Passes
Assists
Saves
Ave shot speed
Playing time
etc
So the question is why?
Well I think it could be put to good use in the following circumstances.
Based on this data, players on a server can get categorised into 3 types,
Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
1) Some kind of team-balancing mutator will ensure that when the teams are uneven an appropriately skilled person is switched over.
2) aesthetic bonuses
i)
as soon as a player reaches a higher level extra customisations should be unlocked
ii)
advanced level should really only be for the *advanced* players. The holy grail in a way. It should come with maybe a couple more customisations.
But advanced level should be special in that it also comes with some additional features like:
a) enhanced ball trail when fired.
b) even 'wilder' crowd and perhaps some incoherent 'chanting' whenever an advanced player picks up the ball.
c) smoke trail whereever he moves
d) his name is in Green on screen (if still possible)
....etc.... i'm sure you peeps can think of more.
.....................................
Note, that there should be no ACTUAL advantage of being at a higher level. You dont run faster, jump higher etc.
It's purely for looks. And at least on public servers, it would highlight the 'star players'
When newbs see the extras you get for sticking with deathball... it might just tempt them to stay a bit longer to get the cool stuff.
.....................................
Now I realise the DB team is really busy and all that.... but i think its something that can be introduced gradually in future versions.
Just start with the stats first.
You're making new customisations anyway.
Just do it bit by bit.

So what do you think?
