To submit your map please use the review script located here http://www.db-community.com/forums/article.php?c=11

The maps will be reviewed by the community by comments and ratings. You have 1 month to complete your map and have it reviewed.

Ya, it's on the site :o

So err..if I understand correct, you're making up the contest, but you put responsiblility for the prize on TV?

If someone wins, chances are still pretty big DavidM won't like it enough to include it in DB :x

I must admit I didn't come up with the plan, I'm just a message boy ^_^.

If you have any questions/comments ask Devnull.

Here's an idea for budding mappers...

Ever since DB's infancy, comparisons have been made with the classic Bitmap Brothers game, Speedball. So why not emulate Speedball with a DB map?:p

Besides the goals, teams could score by hitting one of five stars, situated along one wall of the opposition's half. When a star is hit by the offence, it lights up (scoring points), which can be neutralised if the defence hits that same star. Should the offence manage to light up all five stars, they 'bank' the points and receive a bonus.

If I remember correctly, the value of stars; the 'banking' bonus and standard goals can all be influenced by two muliplier loops, situated on each wall on the halfway line. The multiplying factor can be 0, 1.5x or 2x for/against a team eg. Red throws the ball through a loop twice before blue manages to get one back ---> Red has 1.5x multiplier active

Oh yeah, the mapper would have to add a voice-over saying "Ice cream, ice cream" during replays!

in any case official or not, a contest in general is a good idea. if someone fronted a lil money like 20-50 bucks to the winner you could easily get news and such on the unreal news sites, and always having the word about deathball out there is good.. I hear abou carball all the time on different news sites because they update their code so much, sure its annoying to hafta update all the time and such. but what i'm saying is you hear about carball alot. which means after awhile people start to think the game must be great i keep hearing about it...

boomshlockalockaboom!

well,
I wanted to realize a kind of SpeedBall Arena Map, but i think it would require some mutators or something like that,.....

For example,... in SPEEDBALL 2 i remember u was able to get point, shooting and lighting all the stars on the wall + hitting a staticmashes + normal goal....

Now how can u realize the stars goal system with Uneditor? Moreover without stopping the action if someone shot all the stars,?
I remember infact the game was stopped only if someone scored in normal goal.
BTw my new map is near to be ready :)

off the top of my head, you could do it using a complex set of triggers and movers, but there isnt really a way (that i know of) to 'cancel' the lighting of the stars by the defence (i think they could be cancelled by the defence, its years since i watched the film) or add one to the team score without forcing the goal event.

Yeah, the defence can cancel the stars - a speedball map would rock :)
