DBL Prize?

Post by DavidM »

Well, the DBL is soon to be started (please don't bug me with questions, I don't even know the details myself yet)

But it was suggested to have money prizes, so the matches would actually be played
on the other hand it might bring some hate, jealousy, too much pressure etc. Just some ideas I had, I dunno.
We should bring the fun back into Deathball, where teams don't care if they lose in a league much, and just have a good time..., money would do the opposite. But prizes attract many new people and teams. Or teams might try to be unfair to win, but this would be prevented by league admins. Go think for yourself, I dunno the truth.

Well, if you like it, you' need to donate money (paypal button on http://www.deathball.net) which we can use for the league.

Many people already donated amounts you pay for a full prize game, like 40-50€
and many donated 13,37€
But we still have no amount that would be tasty enough, because it would have to be split.

Ok, vote....

DBL League (!)
euro and na
na's would have to donate for their own league, euros for the euro league
or if some have too much money they donate for both

When people donate, they just have to tell me what to use it for.

Rank and such prizes are cool and without money value ;)

how about things like this. teams make flag type banners . like 200x100 pixels or some crap, which get shown on the deathball main page somewhere and on the league page and such as latest deathball league winners or something.

I think throwing money into the mix will put too much presure on the plate, esp for newer players.

(i voted no..)

but imo it could only work if the prize was in pennies.. or maybe even non monetary?

like a subsidized tshirt or something?

aye, money is not a good idea. the previous prize as i remeber, was a GS.net server for a couple of months.. that'd be more fun imo. Money will indeed pressurize the whole thing.

Money = wrong
Mini-prizes bought by organisers and voluntary donations = good

GS.net server? remember this?
Normally their support is good, but this was just a dirty lie! They never got around with this. Kept saying "soon" blah....

Alternative win could be Deathall shirts with Team name, number and nick.....as you can see in our stuff page for ....lets say max 7 people

Not sure..maybe only for first division.

For noobs it might be hard to start out on something they're hardly sure about, and they know they won't compete as well as other teams, so they're not going to pay an 'entree fee' regardless of whether they'll get it back.

I'm not sure about this.
It sounds nice, and it will definitely bring motivation.

But you have to understand most of us are kids :p and as much as I hate admitting it, that's a major problem tbh.
(Think of parents having to allow it, as well as a general lack of money etc.)

For a lot of teams it's even a problem to get a server, let alone pay an entree fee :)

Now I ask, will this be a standard amount of money? or is everyone free to give whatever he wants to make a variable prize: if all pump more money into it, there's more to win 8)

Both have a lot of problems tbh.

I'm not sure about it, but for now I don't like the idea, but obviously I would donate if it get's used (and my clan is finally active ;))

why not create a League edition of the popular league maps (mainly cube i guess)

have last season's winners names on posters in the map etc.

I suggested that ages ago \o/

No one needs a server any more anyway.

if u include money, it gonna be the open door to any type of lameness in the league, more & more teams gonna ask for DW, blaming servers ping etc......

definitelly a bad idea imo

ye like i said before, i would most certainly donate; how, with what and my parents wouldnt accept.

i agree with the 'money' prize being wrong, and i do agree with the server prize (although by the looks of dbl3, i wouldnt want a gs server).

look at dbsmackdown = fucking great.

also, i agree with the leagues again, start from scratch and have leagues. 2/3 divisions with league 1 as winners of server, also have qualification to league 1, 2 or 3

server is definetley win

im with my french friend req on this; theres a few clans who still cant fathom that this is a game, and giving the team who whores the most money is a little self-destructive to the flow of the game.
