Players vs. Bots on dedicated server?

Is it possible to play this mode on a dedicated server? It works ok on the listen server, but then the game is susceptible to the invisible host "feature" as well as the added lag of a non-ded server.

The closest I've gotten is bots balance teams, but in order for it to work a minimum player number needs to be specified. This ends up needing alot of manual removal and adding of bots. This mode is also buggy as sometimes when one player leaves 2-3 bots are added on the opposing team

My gaming group doesn't always have enough players on to field 2 teams so getting the bots to cooperate would be really nice.

The latest closed beta of ut2vote features a "Vs Bots" mode. That might be exactly what you're after.

Thanks, I'll try and track that down and see if I can figure it out.

Also, is it normal for Deathball to be using the standard UT bots? When bots join it seems to be a mixture of the DB names and the standard UT bots.

Normal.. does that word have any business being in here? Heh!

TBH, I haven't messed with bots yet. Especially on my sortof hybrid servers. Can you post a jpg screenshot of what you're describing?

There's nothing really to post. The models are DB, but the bots sometimes spawn in with UT names... Mr. Crow and Ophelia are the most frequent visitors

Yup, when all 10 current DB bots have been added, the bots added after that will be standard bots.

IMO it would just be better to 'copy' the DB bots, who cares if Mess_E is in there twice?
Better to have more than 2 of the same DB bot than a single UT bot tbh :)

Fortunately it's only a name thing anyway :) nothing else (yet)

Ha! Yeh, it sounds good, but who would want to go online to play against bots when there's real people to play with?
