				Give update warnings

No knock whatsoever, just a suggestion: you guys should give a 12 to 24hr heads up on when you are going to release any kind of update- this will help everyone be on the same page, and prevent what is happening tonight- when half the servers are updated, half are not, half the players are updated, half are not... if all the servers know there is an update coming they will do what is neccesary.

I wish we could, but when an update is ready for public release and posted, I jump on it as soon as I can. At least you can always count on my server's name reflecting what is running. How? UT2Vote allows a server admin to redefine the server name that will be used on a per-gametype basis. Sweet, huh?

some servers can take up to probly 7 days to be updated as server admins with proper access cant be around all the time to do it

They should say "it'll be released..." when its finished already, ie ready and working - if thats not what you meant already. Otherwise when he says it isnt finished (after he's announced) it'll end up:
"OMG FFSDAVIDSUCX OMFG!"!!112 i been waitin all day omgbbqlamekthxlolznaw lame..."
All day/night on IRC

here is an idea...get a list of server admins e-mails, hold off release for an our or 2 and let the servers get updated. then release for download...this way all the people that play can see the servers are down and there will be an update soon

				I warn you, there'll be 2.1d tomorrow
all should update, and just report whenever they get weapon bugs. these are hard to reproduce. basically i have never gotten them, so i have to rely on those you get them all the time while playing online

OMFG...stop with teh updates!!!! It's splitting the community ffs...
Waiting a couple of weeks till it's all working and tested for a whole week without problems is FAR better than releasing a new version every week (unless the auto-update worked)
We still have servers running 2.1 out there, so there'll be 2.1 servers, 2.1c servers, and 2.1d servers...
FFS beta test for longer...by the time I had found out about the last beta, and got round to d/l the full version was out...take more time, get it right.
Ask the community which they would prefer, a DB version that takes a month to get right, but is then (mostly) bug-free, or 4 versions in a month, each 1 that throws more bugs in for fun?
<edit> And stuff like
THIS will happen less

I say constant releases are a good thing. It helps find bugs faster than internal testing.
The Deathball coders have day jobs, this is just their side work. They don't have a QA team to test each build and report bugs. That's the communities job.
I simply can't believe that you expect them to produce bug free releases (even if it's once a month) when all this work is done in spare time. Like Matt says, he doesn't even get to play Deathball much because all of his free time is spent coding.
This community is just like all the others. Filled with ungrateful little pricks.

So your saying that having servers out there with 3 different versions on is a good thing?

What I'm saying is that if beta testing went on for longer (how long was the 2.1 beta out for?) then all these bugs that are being found by players now could have been found while the version was still a beta, therefore the final release would be less buggy.
If the auto update worked (and didn't look like a trojan), it wouldn't be a problem, but it's frustrating having to d/l a new version all the time.
As for FL, how long have you been in this community? If u had been around a bit longer, you'd know that I am not one of these whingers that just complains all the time, and in the past I have helped the team with suggestions and generally been quite positive...
