Mysterial has released a team balancing mutator, which can spread players between the 2 teams on the basis of how they performed in the last map, plus prevent players from switching teams.

The readme...

This mutator does two things to help balance teams better:
1) If there are bots in the game, they are scaled to the two teams' performance. For example, if the Red Team has really good players and the Blue Team has only average players, the Blue Team's bots will be set to a much higher level than the Red Team's to balance things out.
2) Optionally, the mutator can also evenly distribute the human players among the teams based on their performance in the previous match. You can also set an option to prevent players that have had their teams chosen from switching teams.

Obviously, the balancing can't be perfect. Especially if many players are entering/leaving a server quickly the mutator will likely be unable to keep up. However, in many situations it should increase the probablility of even matches, which means more fun for the players.

This mutator is server side only and does NOT require a ServerPackages line in UT2003.ini.

This mutator has a configuration menu with three options:
-Balance Human Players: If checked, #2 above will be done.
-Force Teams: If checked, players who have had their team chosen by the mutator will be unable to switch teams.
-Fair Team Score Difference (%): If the losing team has at least this percentage of the winning team's score, the current teams are judged as fair. This means the mutator will enforce the current teams as they are and not move anyone around. You can prevent this from occurring (and thus always move players around) by setting this option to 100.

This mutator could seriously help bring the fun back into public servers and prevent many players disconnecting due to horrid scorelines :)

alright, i'll bite. So what your basically saying is it takes the 2 highest PPH or scores and puts them on opposite teams, then #3 goes with #2 and #4 goes with #1 and so on...

Unfortunetally this is a horrible idea for a few reasons...

#1. there are 2 good keeps in a game and 1 good defender. if the scores turn out that the defender comes first and the keeps come 2nd and 3rd then there would be a team w/o a keep. games without keeps tend to suck, especially on pub servers.

#2. Its essentially run by the point system with is obsolete as far as DB goes.

Also, who uses bots?

A mut i would like to see made (but i cant code) would be a mutator that acts a lot like map vote in a sence. At the end of the game it takes the 2 keepers at the time and lets them pick teams, losing keeper first. If a player leaves at any time after the picking has begun and the team is left with 2 less people than the other team the team whos short of players gets another pick instantly no matter whos turn. There would also be an option to skip the player pick but both keeps would be guarenteed to be on opposite teams. I dont know if this is even possible but it'd be sweet IMO.

if you wanna make a mut, make one to sort teams by name (ie, clan tag) so we can get matches going easier.

damn, that would be usefull as hell..

you'd have to configure it for your server tho and turn if off and on as needed i think.
