Fix The Assist Counter

In the NADBL we are trying to keep a good record of stats and awarding 2 points for a primary assist is messing things up. Please change the line of code that awards assists to only allow 1 assist for a primary assist while still keeping 1 point for a secondary assist. Also, a player shouldn't be allowed to get a secondary assist point if they are the one that scores. I think that's the way they do things in hockey/soccer.

btw, it's the same thing for the euro league since it's the same scripts.

I agree, I never really understood why the assists were counted the way they are.

I'd deffinately agree. - using the userlog for current playerstats and such has made league stat tracking a world easier then looking at a screen shot or what not to transfer stats to a database.

the only problems with it, are that with 3 goals you can somehow rack up 11 assist points ;P thus we've had to make goals worth 2 points just to make the stats a little less skewed.

also the userlog stops recording at 0 seconds so overtime is not recorded.

if these were fixed. the community would be ever grateful for it makes league stuff alot easier. and more accurate. \o/

It's fine as it is for the game tbh..

The pass for an assist should be awarded also. Sorry if a 3rd party script clashes with this ;p

You could try dividing assists by 2 (aka: passes to assists are only 0.5 point)

Or just change the definition and make it assist points :x gg I dunno.

Well forget about the league stats for a second.

When someone intercepts a ball, passes to the shooter and they score, the passer shouldn't get 2 assists. I don't know any other sport where this happens.

Don't know any sports either where you can assist on your own goal...

i.e. Fooman gets the goal, I get the primary assist, Fooman gets the secondary assist

I totally agree with the 1 assist point only rule like hockey and soccer (1 for the primary assist and 1 for the secondary assist). How should you get more "points" (i.e. goals + assists) for assisting on a goal than scoring it?

why not just count goals as 3 points for the league until you get a fix for this (which will be in like ut2006)

We'll fix our league stats for the time being, but it doesn't change the fact that the code needs to be change.

Nihi r nub. :P

that's kinda a backwards effect, I'd say just get a goal log and do the points from there till this issue is fixed...

Also I'm not 100% sure on this but it seems when someone passes to someone and then they touchdown it, the person that passed it does not receive an assist. However if person A passes to person B who passes to person C who then scores a touchdown, person A receives an assist while person B receives nothing.

Hope that wasn't too confusing. :P

Not only that... but if there's a person that passes to person A, they get the secondary assist I think.

More confusion? lol

20 people repeating the same thing isn't going to enlarge the chances of DavidM wanting to spend precious time on it when he finally reads this thread ;)
