First of all, I've seen the "bad community" thread and I don't think it would be relevant for me to post there.

The game is lots of fun:p ... the problem is, most people in the servers think they are so 1337, they don't seem to remember when they didn't know how to uber boost or 1337 volley it in the goal everytime.

Anyways, what that leads to... a lot of new guys will quit the game after being told things like: "OMG you suck leave teh game!!!1!!!" and "I can't believe you! boosten boosten!!!1!!!111" everytime they play in the pubs.

SO if you want the game to grow (very few people in the servers ) this needs to stop, or there needs to be at least one newbie friendly server.

P.S. A few peopel were helpful though, buit that didn't really come until my 3rd day or so of playing.

P.P.S. to the people of #dbpickup: it's not obvious that you guys are euro. Anyways.:p

Sadly the newbie bashing is nothing new at all. I suggest you try to ignore them, keep on practicing and eventually you'll be good enough to teach the moaners a lesson... :p

Well, we know it for 2 years now...and nothing we can do. Except we exclude the chat from DB..... -_-

that's just what I did... I still can't volley to save my life but I usually get the best passing numbers in the game.

That's true, but it's not like that in every game. In realistic mods you can get TKed and newbies usually TK a lot (and being TKed sucks!), but people don't moan and bitch nearly as much as in DB, even if they have to wait a few minutes to respawn, while in DB you just keep on playing... who really cares that much about the scores in the pubs as long as you're having fun? (but sure it's nice to win!)

As for doing something, I agree that there's not much to do, except try to change the behavior. I believe it might be possible... if the people that bitched were bitched at maybe it would make them understand, even though it's doubtful. Maybe clan leaders could do something about their members...

Anyways I hope this doesn't kill DB

Heh true, being TKed absolutely sucks.

But your team can still play on, whereas losing the ball in DB by something by other considered as 'a must-be goal', is so much more annoying *and* visible, because the entire team is hurt there directly, not just one player


Anyway, not to make this sound like I'm ok with the newbie bashing and stuff, because I'm not (oi ), I agree it's insane sometimes, but there's nothing you can do about it :\.
I don't think a lot of people see theirselves as newbie-bashers too everyone complains sometimes, but most people don't notice.

it's not that newbs bother me per se but people who deliberately try to ruin public games (eg own goals, ball hogging, not even bothering to learn the controls, name calling, team fixing etc)

I think everyone's patience has a limit. It's not suprising people lose their cool sometimes because lets face it.... there are some real nob jockeys out there.

If you're in Canada then you've been hanging out in the wrong place.

Our pubs are really nice (BuD server). But our channels and mixers are brutal. We are a no-n00b zone. You get bashed at like hell from some people for not being "leet".

I think its changed now, we've had a few new players and no one's acting dumb ;O!

Pubs? We have one pub now =/

BuD has always been the shining example of what all pubs should be like.

Unfortunately not all servers have such a good admin running it.
