Player customization

Hello all.
I am new to DB so go easy on me if you see me fooling around on the servers.
After playing for a while I had an idea. (Dont shoot me if someone has mentioned something like this before.)
It seems that clans asign roles to their players such as Defender, Midfielder and Attacker. Why not implement a real "Player class" system?
Defenders could have more Health, move a bit slower and perhaps have a more powerfull hammer.
Midfielders should be default. Like all are now.
Attackers could have more speed, slightly less health and more stamina. Maybe faster charge time to shoot also.
This would make player styles more unique.
Another idea could be to have an amount of points to asign to various skills.
Lets say that you start with 200 points that you distribute on certain skills/abilities. Lets say for kicks that you need to pay 50 points to max a skill.
Example skills:
Speed - Health(2xpoints used) - Stamina - Passing - Shot power - Shot Accuracy
Example player:
John "Cannonball" Doe
Speed: 30
Health: 40 (80)
Stamina: 20
Passing: 20
Shot Power: 50
Shot Accuracy 40
That was just to give a general idea.
Perhaps all this is more suited for the Single Player part of DB?
Would be fun if you could earn points as you play.
