map idea..remember HyperBlade?

anyone who had the old (CR. 1996) Hyperblade game knows what i mean...its the bottom half of a cylinder thats tapered on each end by the goals..

in Hyperblade they had traps/ powerups..

such as a star shaped turnstile like blade that when the 1st player went thru would start spinning and GIB someone following close behind..

things like jumppads or speed powerups could be added to give it flavor...

obviously this would NOT be a league map but could inject a bit more originality and fun factor to the game..a fun alternative gametype..

wish to heck i was a map designer or had any talents in that respect so all i can do is advance the idea..

seems to me it might be more of a small mod of a mod..or a challenge...

;) ;)

Not the foggiest idea of the map you're referring to.. Got any screenshots or something to give us?

hyperblade was an incredible game, not sure how db would fare in a hyperblade bowl gameplay wise but maybe people should find hyperblade, its public domain now i think

yeah its public if underdogs has it

traps, jumppads, obstacles etc all are no good for db. fun for 1 minute. when you want to start playing you need an empty cube :)
ppl need to accept that its a sportsgame, not a tactical shooter or so, that ain't working in db

cant really work out what the layout is supposed to be like, and the underdogs are trickling down at 1k/s, does someone have a screenshot or drawing of the pitch shape?

I loved it, but you're forgetting something: Hyperblade's gravity conformed to the shape of the map, which as a practical matter cannot be done in UT, so there's no point in having a bowl-shaped UT map since you'll just keep sliding down the sides. Nice idea, though.
