the main changes that I did to the concept (as to be used in xball) are in 2.4beta already. just a bit of coding that needs to be done, then it can go out.

I think it's more work than you think it needs David - net code is always hard to get right, and the weapon seemed rather unusable in the version I played. Whilst it would be good to get 2.4 out I think it would be better to expend my energies on X-Ball (or DB "The next generation" or whatever we're gonna call it). If someone else fancied having a go it would be cool but I don't know of any other coders who have the required knowledge to get it done quickly.

getting 2.4 out would mainly
-help me testing the big change ideas by me and balance here and there and maybe spot big trouble
-give the community something new to play finally
what needs to be done coding wise is ball in netcode and minor weapon changes

oh cmon CATA! help out to get db 2.4 out then get back to xball. I'm excited about xball as well but it's just reality that it's going to take a long time to complete and be ready for us to make the switch. In the meantime we need to keep this community going and a new version would do wonders.

Perhaps you could use 2.4 and tryout some of xball's gameplay ideas? At least we have something new to play then
