I'm note sure if I want an application that e-mails some organisation that won't listen anyway every other minute.

Besides, gmail already does a great job of putting it all in it's spam folder.

..will try anyway :)

edit: Installed it now, actually works quite nicely. I guess the idea is not necessarily to auto-remove your spam (which is unnecessary), but to analyse it, send an opt-out and to create a community-wide database of merchants that use spam.

It's a polite way to stop spam by combining the forces of thousands of internet users, and it at least sounds realistic to me. I'm not sure if it will stop all the spam ;) but it might at least work partially..temporarily...

It's worth a try for for the 9.6k memory it uses :) (and it seems to be safe as well)

I agree with Messy, GMail filters well but once or twice an "I have $6900000 in my dead father's bank account and I need a British businessman to come and help me in Ghana" or "Free Adobe Photoshop now available at http://omgwarez.com" makes its way to my inbox. Worth a try.

it is just something that could result in a general dead of spam...sooner or later.
maybe not, but worth a try

About Gmail. I use hotmail primarily, but I got invited to Gmail, which I accepted. Thing is, a google search on Gmail dug up some pretty heavy smelly smearing of Gmail (ironic, isn't it?) as well as pros. Any thoughts about that anyone? I don't get much junk/spam, since I rarely share my adresses with anyone, and I rarely use Gmail. But, does anyone have views on hotmail vs Gmail?

Oh, I guess this is aiming at "anyone" :D

BTW: My brother sent me one of those heartbreaking "20 year old girl from wherever, both parents killed before she was born, need a nice trustworthy mug with a bank account and so on". I was deeply moved. Every cell in my body choked in laughter!

Well Hotmail is bad and GMail is good... GMail itself lists the reasons. You know it makes sense. It's like Firefox versus Internet Explorer - no contest.

gmail has a few benefits. not many if privacy is a concern, but if it is, then maybe webmail aint for you son. both are farmable, in terms of mass mailing, but gmail currently do a better job of filtering the crap out. hotmail/live is getting better slowly.

you can have both simultaneously, you dont have to chose one or the other

firefox is a step up from ie, but isnt the most secure thing ever, its pretty holey, even in its current revision

Thanks both for feedback. I'm not overly paranoid concerning privacy (the clever ones can always find a way). I was thinking more in terms of junk/spam. But you have given me a few thoughts. I'll stick to both. Seperate uses.

I use mozilla thunderbeard because I got a lot of spam, had to click on a couple of mails and note them as junk, and now it just moves 10 e-mails a day to it's junk folder \o/

Works like a charm.

Well of course it's impossible (or at least highly unlikely). But so is the possibility of me going "oh, ok. Here. Here's my bank account, social security number, passport, 5 litres of blood, the combination to my vault AND all my savings. I sure hope things will work out for you now then, poor little being. Wanna marry?".
