Buying headphones from Europe

I'm in the market for some AKG K 701 headphones. By all accounts they appear to be some of the best headphones money can buy outside electrostats (Shame I can't test drive them really).
In the UK they're at least £270 which is a bit over the odds. I've managed to find them for €315 (£217.35) from
thomann, in Germany. Do any of you guys (or gals) know any good (reliable) online stores anywhere in Europe that might sell these (and will ship within the EU)?
Thanks in advance (vain hope?

).

$317 is the cheapest i've seen online, not sure if they ship to the EU.

Thanks, that's a great price! Unfortunately when you factor in VAT (17.5%), import duty (I forget the rate) and shipping it probably works out more. If I stick within the EU I can avoid the import duty. Plus I get free shipping, 30 day money-back guarantee and a 3 year warranty from thomann (I'd gladly sacrifice those for a lower price).
Thanks for the effort though.

Are you complaining about the price of them in the UK or spending £200+ on headphones?
I'd probably stick with the old Senny 595s but they're a tad bass light (not that I want bass heavy either). Not really good for drum & bass music. My wallet would certainly approve though. I heard you can get the 701s for under £200 in Europe but I've yet to find them.

Oh how I'd love to hear those in action /o\
New Varimotion is supposed to add a lot tbh.
I don't think you'll be able to go much lower than 217..but good luck in searching for it
ps: Just fyi; I'm still listening to the same Etymotics ER-6i on the road and Sennheiser's (fabulous..imo) HD 555 for pretty much everything else.
My next upgrade will probably be AKG's 701s as well, so please do keep us informed about your search for a lower price

You're probably right Messy. £217 seems about it in Europe. I seem to remember talk of a price rise from AKG so that might explain it. I had a lead on a german seller on Ebay but they don't seem to be selling any 701s atm.
I was going to get a Xin SuperMini amp for £106 but I think I'll go for the cheaper Go-Vibe v5 (not to be confused with the "personal massager" of the same name) if I can't find the 701s for any less.
It bugs me that they're so cheap (relatively) in the US.
It's a risk buying sight unseen. Based on people's descriptions I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the sound. I have heard reports of ill fitting headbands and resulting headaches however, which makes me slightly apprehensive. If I get them from thomann at least I'll have the 30 day grace period to try them out.

I've had a change of heart. I've found them cheaper but I've decided to go for thomann for the 30 day money back guarantee. It's too risky considering I've never even heard them before. Hopefully they'll be worth it.
