DB bots, Lets get them working

alright im here to make a list of problems of the bots, and maybe some suggestions, anyone else please post other problems.

Bot passing, don't pass it to me, in front a lot of the time, don't get the pass.

Don't pass over walls and boxes and stuff, seems to only pass when in line of view.

Only pass when looking at them.

Keepers never pass back the ball. just sit there till ball resets.

bots never jump.

bots never volley (this might be hard to program)

Bots are just plain dumb when it comes to tactics.

They allways follow the ball, and never go get open for a pass.

One last mapping suggestion

David could you get some coders to make a coupla ball placement spots, so the ball could reset in more than one place? this would be fun so it cou'l start somewhere else. Wouldn't work well with a map like Cube, but it would with a map like BD-DessertSolitaire

bots follow paths and triggers, in DBs case the ball is the trigger. You cant randomly make them jump to do anything other than follow the trigger unless you place specific triggers on the field to make them jump.

if the ball is a trigger, then you should be able to make it so when the ball is in the proxy of the bot (above the Bot) then the bot jumps. Is my logic incorrect?

yeah i playonline, but my connection sucks, so i play bots alot, but the bug that pisses me off the most is when the keeper bots just sitther with theball and don't pass untill the ball resets.

i would assume so but it'd have to go directly over them and they'd miss it anyways.

make it a bigger proxy, so they time it right. It can't be immpossible.

P.S. i love your dude walking on the left. I seem to vaudely remember him from an old video game on my Sega Genises. Some space thing or something. He's awesome.

Yeah, the bots suck. It's gonna take some mad coding to make them somewhat acceptable in relation to human players. Don't hold your breath for a challenging shot to be placed against you when you're playing bots.. :P

Yeah bots need lots of work, but hopefully david gets motivated after the 1.7 release and gets the bots to work.

keeper bot when he has the ball and dosent sit there, dosent pass the ball, he just runs out and gets killed

can you code it so the volley latency only counts for keepers?
