Boosting

It seems almost all match reports in the DBL now-a-days seem to comment on lame ass "Broomstick" goals.. almost every team now is trying to score by boosting half the length of the pitch to the goal.. Yes, its a tactic, but its crap.. its no longer about which team has the best passing and team play, its more which team can get a boost (luck or played for) Defence and keepers are getting more n more pissed off with them, no matter how good u are if u got a player shooting over your head with the ball towards goal chances are its going straight in :@ What can be done about this? I know for a fact DavidM wont want boosting taking out the game, but surely something needs to be done about it..

Im sure (thought) DavidM said he would try and remove it, i remember a looooooooooong convo/argy on the subject of moving jumps and stuff...

@ Broomstick :X
right now, only 3 things, i think, can be done
1) Stop them boosting - near impossible
2) Get def in a ready position - again, impossible.. well, its possible.. but they'd need to miss the trick once or twice before you know they gunna do it, cos it happens so fast in some cases def's are caught out
3) Hope they miss, ala cY Red

I think pbox campers started b4 ive seen this uprise of boosts goals. I see boost goals as a reaction to pbox camping. You only stand 1/2 a chance of scoring even off a boost if they have a man in the box at all times.

actually pbox camping started right after banana was introduced becuase you could easily shoot around defenders so as their solution they sat in the pbox to make it impossible to do so. It worked well even after the banana obsession died down so hell, why not keep doing it?
As for the broomstick goal a.k.a "n00b cannon v2.0", anyone can do it, its extremely easy, extremely cheap, and a extremely reliable.
and to think they took out dribble for less

Another case of DB players coming up with their own tactics and then some moaners complaining because it's too effective. It is a legitimate way of playing and instead of complaining, work on ways to combat it - and by that I don't mean running off and telling DavidM to remove it from the game...

lol.. I believe even DavidM isnt too keen on it..
Ways to combat it = p.box camp.. which is killing the game tbh..
DB was far more fun before all this boosting shit.. Games were more based on the passing and getting into space n stuff.. now most games = Boost players up field, with/without ball, and try a long ball

kinda sucky boring game..

Can code be added so that as soon as the player gets the ball his speed is dropped to normal (ball carrying speed).

cant it be done like this, im not a coder so i dont know..just a suggestion:
When you're being boosted you travel a certain speed, a speed that is faster than jumping or walking, cant it be that when you travel that speed, if you have the ball, you get grounded...

you meen - when you get the ball while boosted you just drop to normal speed ?
or you automaticly drop the ball when your speed is above a certain level

yea i do, or you could be boosted, but the ball stays behind, haw haw

hehe yes that would be nice
but no boost while holding the ball (like now) because then a team-noob-cannon will be possible

boost the cerrier - drops ball - volley

What about just reducing the effect of boosting your own team?
