The golden age of db?

Seeing as db seems to be....well you know, I am wondering what was the gameplay like at the time that you loved db the most, what things were the most fun for you.

I want to make myself very clear, don't saying 1.3b or any other verson number, becuase that isn't even close to all that has changed the WAY ppl play db has change greatly and that is what i am talking about (though if you want to mention a feature that would make it like the game play style you used to like that would be fine)

i will give my list:
1. back when passing was more fun: when passes were usaually either intercepted or missed, not all this volleying away passes that are even close to you
2. b4 boosting was the only way you would even thinking about geting up and down the field, with geting in space and geting open being very important
3. when defence was defence.... not playing second (3rd....4th....) keeper
4. when reg shots ruled and volleys were only used regularly by a couple volley whores

well to be honest, i think im havin more fun playin db now then i ever have!!

its mainly downt to the payers i play with,

with aov i got a good understanding with my teammates and we play well together and have a laff, no gay boost goals, or gay shit, in fact most of our stuff is , pass, pass, pass, pass, boost defender, pass, shoot. Its fun and enjoyable, sure the odd boost/pass goal happens but more out of accident then preplan!
the same thing with the eng team, just a bunch of quality players who know how toplay the game without being gay!!!

i came from a mod for the old ut, called strkieforce, and all the crap thats gone on here in the last few weeks is a mirror image of wat was said in the forums of strikeforce before i stopped playin, just people slaggin off the game because its not like it used to be, which is a shame, cos i really enjoyed sf till ppl i knew started leaving, i just hope the same shit dont happen here!

the moment i played deathball the most :
- before boosting cause then defense was forced to "really" defend ,not the gay attacking ..backboosting and coming that one second too late.
- back in the days when we all sucked in volley was the best days obviously.
- and wehn keeps sucked ass , was my best times , i still remember me shooting from the middle and the keeps letting the balls in , now only the uber-noob keeps do it

Volleys are just fine. Please, what we DON'T need is a game where every aspect changes with every version. The changes should be less and less with every version, not more and more.

volleys are fine? how about making volleying a talent again instead of everyone and their dog being able to. in 1.3b or whatever i didn't even think of trying to volley because it was so hard, now even i can score volleying, its been made so easy people are abusing it, but w/e...

Against a good defence, you don't see many vollied goals. Defenders have a much larger volley radius, so if someone scores a vollied goal it means the defence were asleep, or it was a REAL good volley.

Anyway, most people tend to say that they find volleying more difficult in 1.6 than any other version. Personally I found it much easier in 1.4b.

more difficult? lol, if anything its getting progressively easier and easier, until all we'll see are volley shots to goals making regular shots obsolete

and against a good defense volleys are harder? lol, if anything volleys are easier to score with than normal shots on a good d

and whats with this crap i've heard of the volley-delay for goalies in 1.7 is going to be like .55 or something? making regular shots even harder, also making volley goals the only real way of being able to score...

should call this crap death-volley-ball
and berk, you're right, db is dying, and the constant shift toward volleys is doing more hurt than help

You are a bit wrong here. We change whatever we think is better. When people start complaining about all the boosting, we discuss what can be done about it and then we do something about it.

you guys should all read the changes list

boosting your teammates was toned down to 80%

volley power reduced, it takes skill to make it harder, and in most situations you wont be able to do it harder

switch time after getting ball is 0.1 (0.25 before) which makes it easier to score pass-shot goals

you should not praise the old versions to much, i swear, if you go play them again now, you would totally hate them.....for several reasons

dare i say "put set jumping back in" ? **cringe** it'll stop most volleys (as it'll take skill to time the jumps) and the same for boosting...
