okay, here's a real picky one for you mappers out there :)
all that hard work you spend creating the crowd sounds and someone like me wants to remove them!
The volume in ut2003 - is for ambient noise, so include crowd and gun power up, footsteps…
I still want to hear the gun power up and footsteps, but not the crowd (on cube mainly)
do any of you know if there's a variable I can change or something of the like to silence the crowd?
"bah humbug"
many thanks,
drifteh.

well, with the changes to db-cube in 1.7 there might not be a need for lowcube, (we'll have to see) and then I have no choice but to listen to the crowd! o_O (unless the crowd noise disappears when you set the details to low) :)

I like the crowd sound, it adds to the atmosphere. Cube just wouldn't be the same without it.

nab :@ - exactly - /me reaches for the cs-gas
xill, forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't think you'll need to, from what I can gather if you have a pwn1ng system then you'll always be on a high setting - so you'll see db-cube "In all it's glory" whereas the other n00bens type geforce2MX (robotojon

) folks will see it without all the bells and whistles. (looking a lot more basic) - because they're always on a "low" detail setting.
And besides, I'm sure lowcube will still be about, someone might even update it with all of the new "features" - spectator cameras, post sounds, etc... who knows…
there is a place in my heart for db-lowcube, but if db-cube lives up to the hype with v3 (1.7) then there won't be much call for it I would imagine…
Armagon: - I'm only trying to shut up the crowd on my computer, not everybodies... =]
perhaps I should start deleting my .ogg files

:O

Ummm...no. I'm afraid you'll find that cube doesn't use an OGG Vorbis file. All the crowd noise is normal sounds, not songs.

Isn't it a twattish idea having a cube that turns into a lowcube when you put your settings on normal?
No...Thats a damn good idea

wouldn't it be an unfair advantage to have crowd sounds off? why should u be able to hear it better than us? (unless you've got hearing probs in which case i can see the need.)
have u ever been to a sports game, the crowd sound is a realistic factor, which should either be on for all or off for all imho.

sports and deathball are different in more ways then one, and constant crowd loops and shit is an example

yeah, i'm not saying it should be on or off, i'm saying it has to be the same for all ppl, and the best way to do that is to let the mapmaker decide on the sound which best suits their level. u think the cheering masses on cube will be silent? only in tennis maybe
