Newbie server

Now that 1.7 has some new press, why don't someone put up a server advertised for newbies. It may work, it may not. People new to deathball may have more fun playing against a bunch of other lower skilled players. It may give them a place to get their feet wet. I don't know, just an idea.

Good idea, but i bet if there was one then a load of "Good" players would go on and fake nick just to own a load of n00bs and get lots of ego

It was tried in UT once ages ago and thats what happen

Although this isn't a bad idea, I feel players will improve quicker if they play with talented players.

they have servers like this for CS - and if you scrore to high, you get banned (i.e. , you arent a n00b anymore). Dont see why something like this couldnt be implemented , and back in the days of the old forums, i was trying to pimp this idea too. With a game like db, the learning curve is high, so a place for people to play online without upsetting the flow of a higer skilled game would probably help loads more people to get into db, without being shunned and hence quitting after a barrage of abuse from so called "pro's"

There's certainly a case for doing this, but I feel from my experience that I learnt a lot quicker playing with good players. When people play against bots they soon think they're good and when they go online they get cained. I think the DB Academy is the way to do it...Good players teaching new players...

yeah, true, but what i mean is for ultimate n00bs. Maybe you could go one step further and have hints flash on the screen for them, although to be fair, if they make a db tutorial it would solve these problems , and would probably also pwn

this may sound dumb, but how about we get the ip's of all the players in DBL and ban them from that server?

or only 2 or 3 players can come there and they have adminpass so they can learn them noobs

My opinion:
Use the 123/4 Server. It's full of n00bs^^

I think it doznt really work that way, sure this would happen in UT or any regular 'shooting' mode or other game like half-life/counterstrike etc.
But DB is a team-game, playing with n00bs who cant pass (well) nor boost (well) is simply frustrating.

I think i read about plans for that somewhere =/ (probably at deathball.net

maybe the old planet-db)

I like the idea, personally. Although A little guidance from perhaps a spectating good player would help. But good luck with that. Kinda like a DBA pre-school. Of course this would only happen in Europe, NA dosen't have a DBA...
