I was hoping that Deathball wouldn't need something like this, but I just got out of a server and it seems unfortunately I was wrong. There needs to be a way people on a team can vote to kick (or maybe even Ban) players on their team for Intentional self-goaling. I was just in a server where a player would grab the ball and shoot it into our goal, and there was no way to block him. I am assuming there is some penalty eventually because he reconnected after doing it twice to reset his score. Altho since I've only seen one player do this, maybe there is a way admins could just get together and ban him individually, his nick was "The_Dew_man" and he didn't hold back in saying he was trying to ruin the game. Thanks for any assistance anyone here can provide. Other than that, props to the developers, excellent game guys.
its all good and well david but i have been in a few games where he would own score, then quickly reconnect (bnded key?) and continue avoiding the ban, and he must have had a good pc as he would reconnect within the score time.
hmm the map vote mut can kick ppl but same problem as with any vote u ussualy cant convice 75% or whatever percentage is needed to kick vote. and once i had a guy who changed his name everytime aswell and reconnected so not really possible. only thing that works is getting a server admin to kickban him. no other way really
Caching stats sounds good, but I've also been on a server where someone scored an own goal and then swapped teams and scored an own goal there Pretty sure that should be caught by the "-2" rule but maybe the public server in question didn't have it turned on?
We need to convince public server admins to have these settings turned on. Also they should all have the force balance teams option turned on to stop lame people in a 4-4 match changing teams if they are losing
Good idea Dave, as long as you do it by ID (cdkey generated one) rather than name. Also this server crash forget banlist problem - is this a db fault or a UT2K3 one ?
just make sure the admin can unban someone easly... though it probably wouldn't happen much there is a possiblity to score two own goals with out meaning to
