The goals have the same area as cube goals. Same height, corners cut, wider to make up for the corners.
Avenir is quite a bit bigger than small cube but, it is still a small map. Short night is inbetween smallcube and Avenir. ShortNight, Avenir, and Hex are all small maps - mainly for volley only games. Midnight will be a mid size map for shooting games. When I get back from vacation I will finnish MidNight. I think it looks and plays great. It has a new layout.
I don't plan on making cube maps. They have been done. I try to give players a different experience with my maps. I think deathball can be more than just a soccer game with gameplay the same on every map. The angles ( simple 45% ) change the way the map is played. I'm tired of people doing the same stuff time and time again. The angles give the game a little different feel and new tricks will come off of this. Example: Avenir has a glass ceiling which you can use to set yourself up with a nice shot. Done right the ball will hit the glass, come straight down in front of you for a wild volley shot at the goal.
Players seem to be too set in their ways. Learn some new new tricks by playing differnet maps. The same old crap time after time gets boring. This is a great mod. It does not have to be just a soccer/football game.

The dodge works fine for the goal. The wider goal is a cross bar lenght wider on each end. I did many tests before I made this goal. It's a different shape but no harder or easier than cube goals for offence or defence. A normal dodge goes farther than the goal width of cube goals and my hex goal.
Novembers goals are shorter than cubes. This does not seem to crush the offence or destroy peoples enjoyment of the game when playing November. It's an alterantive. I made another alternative. If people have to play a little different with a hex goal than a cube goal, good. Some difference in game play from map to map is good. Who would want to play a mod with just one map. Spaceballs plays different than cube and many people seem to like the map.
The Hex goal is just a little change and I hope some people enjoy it.

I really like the twist in gameplay, it makes a nice change. The problem is that the change in gameplay is something most DB players aren't used to. Because of this, they initially tend to not do so well. Consequentially, many players shun the map before they even give it a real chance. I'm sick of cube maps. I don't care that I don't do as well as I normally do. For me, non-cube maps are simply, a lot of fun.
