Laggy Replay Cams

Just been testing the 1.9 Beta. It's coming along nicely, but the replays although cool, need some tweaking in my opinion.

They're just too laggy. Offline this isn't a problem so it's a server thing.

My idea: Make replay cams pivot on a FIXED point, NOT moving on a track. This allows the users to look at what action he/she sees fit. This will also fix the lag issues as the camera doesn't have to keep up with the action.

Perhaps try to have both fixed and tracking cameras (I definately remember a fixed camera in an earlier beta and replays were nice and smooth). That way those who find the lag irrating can free-view and those too lazy to do so can have the cameras follow the ball for them...

Shite camera man

But cant we have a free floating camera? Say that starts with the ball but then comes under your control, or maybe starts looking down at the box and then you can move it..

...shut up Jr...

there is no lag, read the "known bugs" on the 1.9 page.

I liked jr's idea of top down view camera start point ---> free.

Altho it might also be smart if the camera is not always reset :o

having it like when you can select a player to spec and your mouse cam rotates around them- but for the ball would be cool if possible. (since the ball is always being caught)

Urm, regardless of the definition of lag, it's still a problem, and worth at least looking into the different viewpoints option. There is also a "lag" problem where the players and shots tend to streak across the screen and jump around a bit as if the viewer had a very high ping, even when they don't. I've also witnessed twice players being missing from the replay entirely...rather odd if you ask me.
