Well I was certainly a bit suprised when I found Mayer had gone through the trouble of writing a map review. I was suprised all the more that he wanted to help me to complete any last reviews that I wanted done before the compilation of the Second Deathball Ownage Map Pack. Naturally, I was quite happy to accept his help, so here you have Mayer's first written review which is for DB-TempleFINAL by Scotteh.

The Map

So the Map mostly takes place in an Egyptian Style world, which is rare in the Deathball Community (The only ones I know are DB-Chamber and DB-Globe) The map is absolutely a remade version of Smallcube. Same size (I hope my eyes are correct), and same volleywhore madness. So let's dig into it:

The Design

The design is nice, althought imho it has some weeknesses (Did I said that  ) So, first of all, I have to admit that the map looks really nice. The Meshes are well used, and the effects outside (pyramids) also give u a good felling. I only had two problems, which is maybe me, and the friggin mapper inside.
:blabla:

First of all, the variety of the walls is... well... not too much. Same little windows everywhere, same posts stuffs like that. The Other one is that the wall texture looks pretty damn empty to me, and this annoyes me a little bit, but overall I think the Design is well done, and the map has a really good FPS rate.

The Gameplay

Don't have to talk about the gameplay much... it is the same as SC. Althought there are some changes, for example, the ball can't get out on the left and right side of the court (or it can, but it has a relatively small chance) but it has a bigger chance to get out on the ends of the court. This is no problem, and as I said before, same as SC.

The Mappers Atention

The Mappers atention to the map is really goddamn good. First oif all, I thought The ball could get lost up on the walls... this would be a really bad point... but the mapper has made this inmpossible with some volumes, and those who just wanna climb those walls should think about playing the game coz another volume stups the from getting up. :p

Overall Points

The Design: 10/8
The Gameplay: 10/7
The Originality: 10/6
The Mappers Atention: 10/9
The Overall: 10/7.5

The Over-Overall

The map is a must for all DB players. It looks, and plays good. If u want SC with some historical lessons... i dunno why u haven't downloaded it yet :D

This is an excellent and popular map. It is very similar in size to small cube but the dimensions are different as is the upper layout. The upper layout breaks up the walls and adds detail to the map.

Each of corners of the upper portion of the map feature a large fire pot and a bigger view of the sky box. The ceiling has a unique window design that fits very well with the theme of the map but small enough to keep ball resets down. You'll find the way Scotteh set up the map to include ball reset areas without them being a major factor in the game to be a work of genius.

The post sound is a different sound and a good one. The goal effects are also very good.

Very nice job Scotteh.
