Imaginos has done a great job with the redirect and setting up UT2Vote for NA servers. The VO set up, eliminates a ton of problems. The poor newbie who use to shoot, score, get bashed and sometimes kicked has a better chance of learning and enjoying the game VO style. This is a major improvement over the past.
I haven't given up yet either. I just think deathball's odds of growing are much improved the sooner a UT2K4 version is out there. I would hope they would work to make 1.9b work for UT2k4 bug free and then go for the other stuff they want to add like models ect..
We lose too many servers and players and it will be hard to get it going again. New players will get turned off if they only see a few empty servers when they go to try deathball out. The key to deathball growing it to ensure new players can always find a game online.

i just updated my computer so i don't fear the change over to 2k4 now. so i hope they get the 1.9b equivallent out for it soon...
this dying of DB in NA really sux.. but if things go right and the dev's play their cards right DB can be as good if not better then it was in its prime for 2k3.
I highly agree with keeping 2k4 beta's as private as possible. a passworded server and a beta page for us retards on the board so we can help test it.
I got one question. were the pain causing volumes fixed? i got some fun map ideas i'd like to finish now hehe

I didn't fully test them, but they seem to work correctly now. To test, take a map and make a thin physics volume with pain causing set to true and damage per sec at 100. Try to jump through it. You should die instantly. Then make the volume big enough to sit inside of and set the damage per sec to 20. See if that works as expected.

In NA, the BuD2k4 server has the current (over three weeks old!??!?) beta Deathball 2.0 build available in the votable gametypes. Server password is.. oddly enough: bud
Feel free to try it out. Linkage in my sig too.

Btw Imag i played on the BuD server last night and the only map we played was smallcube over and over. The reason i think this was happening is cause there are 1000 maps to choose from and people find it a lot easier to just hit the "restart map" button. Why have so many godamn maps on there, it's impossible to sort thru and pick a map you want in the time you have. Just give us 10-20 good ones or so to pick from then we will get a nice balance. Surely out of those 1000 maps you have on there, 75% or more are weird gimmicky maps that ppl would most likely empty the server on anyway.
Same goes for Fo server if they have 1000 maps too.
I'd still prefer it if we could get a regular play server going but i fully understand it's been tried before and it just hasnt worked. So thanks to both bud and fo for at least having a public server available.

Yeah we all have Berk. Not to pull out a bad cliche, but all good things come to an end. That being said its not dead quite yet. Maybe its wishful thinking but once a full version is released for 2K4 perhaps it will bring in lots of new people as well as maybe pull back in some people who used to play. A DB renaissance if you will. Or perhaps it will just continue its slow death. Only time will tell, but I have faith in the NA DB community.

True.. I do throw up a lot of maps. And with UT2Vote admins can disable/reenable them on the fly. I shall do that based on the on the map ratings. (didn't know you can opinion rate the maps?)
If not, there ya go. The ones that make it with teh sucks get disabled. So please make use of it - you have a voice on what the server will host to make people happy.
Also there's a button there for new maps. Hit there, and if the admin has been dutiful in adding new maps to that list, you can quickly vote for the latest ones. I admit I haven't added that new beta from Ska to it yet, but I haven't even played in the past few days.. (stupid work.. takin up my time!)
There's also the topmaps button (top 10)
Having said that now, do I not allow enough voting time? It's ended up that short as a result of people bitching that they wait too long to play the next map.
Also, the replaying on SC, not entirely out of laziness. Dude, it looks like that is what the pub community has devolved to. Vote up November and watch the server empty.. sheesh.
