Explanation on alt-fire passing changes?

Can we get a more detailed explanation on what was changed with the alt-fire passing? I remember hearing something about the 3rd jump passing being a key factor in the change, but i don't get it.
Here's what i noticed last night. A few times i'd be jumping through the pbox waiting for a pass that i could catch and then dump in the net. This is a common technique used forever and i don't think anyone would dispute it. However, last night for whatever reason sometimes those passes would go way under me. Basically the pass seemed like it just sputtered out under me and it didnt really lock. Other times it worked so it's some type of timing thing related to my jumps, i think.
The explanation given in the change log:
- Altfire/Pass code changed. It's much more accurate. Passing to jumping players, will hit them directly.
It will no more go below their feet (3rdjump-pass-kids, go find another move!). It also handles sloped floors better.
Passing to jumping players will hit them directly? HUH? didn't seem so last night. It happened more than once and others noticed it. So what's the scoop?

happened to me a few times and is annoying, if your nerfing one thing please make sure you aren't nerfing something legit in the process

maybe its gonna involve more skill in timing the jumps?

Yeah but it'd be nice to know what skill we have to develop for that to take place... again, I'll investigate code changes and analyze where possible.

It's nothing to do with timing the jumps, they pass to you and you are about 8 feet up in the air and the ball rolls along the ground.

So if you are passing to someone who is on his/her third jump, then the ball will not lock on the player?

I think it calculates where the player is moving and sends it further ahead now. ie: if your moving up ward. its aiming for your face. so when your jumping over the pbox. as your moving down from a jump its aiming farther below you then it had been previously. thus the pass is low to the ground.
another reason why i think a dancing offense player doenst get passes to them as accurately as before. they move left then right and the pass was sent while they were moving left, they may turn back the other way to get the early pass. but because its calculating so much futher ahead. its already out of reach...
so. I find the new pass code less accurate then before in most situations.. gg!

This happens so often, it's not funny.
I agree with Inphidel, I also find the new pass code less accurate then before in many situations. It's only more accurate for some passes. Considering everything - I think it worse.

Funny thing is that u'll never get rid of the "3rd jump pass"... the timing may change, or it may become the 2nd jump pass, or whatever...but u'll always have something.
Anyway...if u do a jump backwards just after the pass it's still easy anyway.

easy to what? catch? cause i'm pretty sure if i jump backwards with the ball coming at me it's gonna go flying past

I've noticed some passes are scewed too.
Where you'd expect the ball to go straight to a jumping player (or near enough), it tends to bobble along the floor.
I'm guessing this a bug caused partly by the 3rd jump pass 'fix'. If so, then it needs to be improved.

I don't think anyone could give a sensible answer to this except for UsAaR33
I think I noticed it too, just thought it was me sucking ;p
Too chaotic to really notice sometimes in smallcube though
